What is a Job?

Job (Employment / Occupation) is the obligation of a person to perform a specific task for a person or organization, either temporarily or for a long period of time, for an agreed fixed salary.

There you will be assigned a specific piece of work, for which you will be entitled to a fixed payment. You claim hourly, daily, weekly or monthly payments by performing the relevant tasks better. It is your right to receive the relevant payment after completion of the relevant duty. It is also the employer’s responsibility.

But here the employee has to obey the rules, regulations, systems, superiors and working hours. There the employee cannot act as he likes, he has to act as directed by the superior officer.

High officials also do a job. Therefore, even a high official cannot do all the things he wants. They should also be subject to the basic methodology, values and organizational structure of the respective company.

What Can The Employee Get?

The main thing that an employee gets is his salary. Salary is a drug, once you use it, it is not easy to get rid of it, you become addicted to it. Salary is the lowest and most basic thing that an employee gets.

Apart from this, organizations also provide employees with health insurance, attendance allowances, performance appraisals, salary increments, overtime allowances, bonuses, fuel allowances, vehicle allowances, family trips, free meals, free accommodation, job security etc.

If salary is a drug, these employee benefits are like giving an overdose of that drug. However, more than ninety-five percent of the world (the workforce) loves this package lifestyle. Because it is very easy, attractive and risk-free.

What is a Business?

An economic process ranging from simple to complex level in which a product is produced or purchased and offered for sale is called a business.

To be a business, it must produce a product (good or service) or buy it for sale. Then the product should be presented in the market for sale. There the buyers meet the sellers, the product has a price, the ownership of the product is transferred from the business to the customer upon payment of the relevant price.

For any economic activity to be a business, the above criteria must be met. If not, it’s not a business. That is, if you produce something and do not present it to the market, if your product is not sold to consumers at a certain price, it cannot be considered as a business activity.

In addition, businesses can be seen performing further economic activities in complex phases such as creating employment opportunities, innovating new products, marketing campaigns, keeping accounts, creating investment opportunities etc.

What are The Types of Businesses?

01. Entry Level of Businesses (Trading)

Primary level trading can be seen as the most basic level of business. That is to buy one product or a small quantity and sell it at a higher price with a small profit. A small grocery store is an example of this. Buying a vehicle and selling it at a higher price can also be put under this.

02. Self-employment

Self-employment is the use of time and effort to produce and sell one’s own goods or services. Making and selling bakery products, growing flowers and selling them, sewing and selling clothes, etc. can be pointed out under this.

Apart from this, special professional opportunities can also be pointed out under this. That is, a lawyer is self-employed providing legal advice and legal services from his office or home. Earn money by selling your knowledge online or through a tutoring class.

A doctor earns money by providing medical services from his own private place instead of working in a hospital. An auto mechanic may start and run his own car repair center instead of working for a company.

What will happen here is that instead of providing the know-how and professional ability to a person or company and getting a salary, they will earn income by engaging in the relevant task independently.

03. Large Scale Trade

Here it can be seen that the goods are not manufactured but the goods are procured from the manufacturers or distributors in bulk and stored and sold to the consumers.

Supermarkets are a good example of this. Most supermarkets do not produce goods. They mainly do the presentation of other people’s goods for sale in large quantities.

04. Manufacture and Sale of Goods

The primary feature that can be seen here is the “production” of any product. There the entire product may be produced alone or jointly with other parties. Things like raw materials and certain small parts that cannot be manufactured by themselves, are purchased from others and build their final product.

These businesses can be divided into two parts according to how they sell their products. That is, selling the product directly to the end consumer. This often happens in small-scale manufacturing establishments.

The other way is to sell products in bulk to businesses. Often there are intermediaries called distributors. This is a business-to-business trade.

In these types of business models, the distributors buy the goods directly from the manufacturer. Then they store the relevant goods in their warehouses, after which they sell the goods to the trade-businesses.

Large scale products like cement, rice, medicines, fertilizers are sold in this way.

Who is a Businessman?

The person who starts a business as mentioned above, and runs it is called a businessman. There he faces uncertainty. That is, the uncertainty between his venture succeeding or not.

Also, he takes a lot of risk with his investment amount. He cannot be sure about his future profits. Sometimes the business may fail and all the money will be wasted.

Starting a business necessarily entails these risks. That is, every businessman who starts a business has to face these risks. But there is a higher level group of these businessmen who exhibit more advanced characteristics. They are called entrepreneurs.

Who is an Entrepreneur?

An entrepreneur is a person who is capable of skillfully grasping an economic opportunity in the society and converting it into a business opportunity, starting a business, creating innovations, and developing and maintaining the business.

Although hesitation can be seen in many businessmen when faced with various challenges, entrepreneurs are a group of people who are stronger in the face of challenges.

Entrepreneurs have the potential to start small businesses and grow them into large-scale business networks. Most of the time, ordinary businessmen will either keep the business as it was started, or close the business after some time.

Why Do People Choose a Job Over a Business?

A job looks very nice, smooth, easy and risk free in every way. But the real nature is that you have to juggle a lot of things from the first day you go to work till the end.

Most of the working people are not happy doing their job. Many people do their jobs because there is nothing else to do and there is no way of income to live if they stop the job.

At the top of this article, where we talked about what an employee gets from a job, employees get something else that is not mentioned. That is, acceptance. This is given to high-ranking employees.

It means that doctors, engineers, accountants, lawyers etc. who are at a high professional level are highly recognized in the society. This social recognition is also a matter of reason that binds them to that job or profession.

There is nothing wrong with a job if you get a good salary and other allowances, if you get good social recognition, and if you can live comfortably with the salary you get.

But to get a good job, one must have higher education and professional qualifications. Otherwise results in lower pay, lower job benefits and lower social recognition.

But not every child who studies in any society goes on to university education or beyond. Not all people in any country become graduates. Others stay at a lower level of education and use other paths to get ahead in life. Some people complete professional qualifications by studying various vocational courses.

Not all top job holders are degree-holders. There are people who work in high positions with talent and task-mastery even without degrees.

However, this is what you need to understand. What kind of life do you want? If you want a simple, normal, beautiful life, even a mediocre job is enough for you. If you want a slightly higher lifestyle, you will have to study more and get a better job.

However, if you do a job, you have to be actively engaged in that job until retirement. But if you want to go beyond a package lifestyle to a life of freedom, self-sufficiency, and unique luxury, you have to be a smart entrepreneur.

Now you have to decide what kind of life you want. A lifestyle that works every day, or a life that can be spent freely. But starting and growing a business is not that easy.

It takes a lot of effort and dedication for that. Many years have to be spent for it. Sometimes it may not be possible to see any kind of satisfactory level within that time.

You will not get good income during that time. People who were with you will get jobs and go to much better places than you during that time. They build houses and buy cars. But you have nothing. This is the time when you are most depressed.

Those who can withstand that pressure, but at the same time can move steadily towards your goal, are truly entrepreneurs. After this difficult period is over, it will be a time for them to wear jewels on their feet.

After that difficult time, entrepreneurs grow their wealth and power at a very fast pace. After that they inherit a very free life. They don’t have to stick to an eight- to nine-hour time frame. They have no superiors to command them.

They are the ones who give instructions and orders to the employees and officials under them. They work very hard for many years and spend the rest of their lives very freely.

However, the truth is, most people cannot make that commitment. That is why, the number of people who create jobs is very low and the people who are looking for jobs are the majority of the society.

Because those who are entrepreneurs do not make that much commitment with a monetary objective. They value a free lifestyle more than money. They make that difficult commitment to achieve a free life that is not subject to anyone.

But those who do jobs work not for a free life but for a good salary. That is the difference between someone choosing a job and someone choosing a business.

However, the decision is up to you, job or business? Try to live your life as happily, freely and meaningfully as possible, whether you are working or running a business.
