What is Anxiety Disorder?
Anxiety disorder is a feeling of unease in the mind, such as worry or fear. Sometimes this can be at a normal level, sometimes it can be slightly elevated. Worry is a cognitive process: it occurs in the mind. Mindfulness is engaging the mind in advance to prepare for future negative outcomes.
Fear is the emotional response to a real or perceived threat in the future. Anxiety or uneasiness is preoccupation with something that is about to happen. Worry always brings us the worst. Because after a worry, we tend to think about the bad things. There we miss even good things.
It can occur even in childhood, and can persist if left untreated. This is more common in women than men. There is no specific age or time for anxiety. It can arise and increase or disappear at any time. Sometimes this can worsen if left untreated for long periods of time.
