5 Steps to Prepare for Exams – Study Tips and Tricks

In any educational system, learning outcomes can be measured by conducting an examination. There, the preparation of each student is different. How they prepare for the exams also determines the results they get in the exams. It means that if we prepare well for the exams, we can get better results.

So, let’s talk about how best to prepare for the exams. It mainly requires your willingness to learn. No matter how many methods you look for, unless you are interested in learning, those methods will not yield effective results. Therefore, first of all, develop interest in learning activities.

01. Paying Attention to the Lesson

Listen carefully when the class teacher is teaching. But many students are used to talking and doing other unnecessary things while the teacher is teaching. For this reason, the lessons you are taught at that time are not properly absorbed.

Then when you go to study those lessons, you have no idea if you learned them. Because of this, some points in the lessons may be very difficult for you to understand. Therefore, it is very important to listen to the teacher while he is teaching the lesson.

Even if you go to study the same lesson later on, the teacher’s lectures will help you to store the relevant facts easily in your memory.

02. Frequent Study Habit

There are very few students who make studying a regular habit. Studying is a kind of fun for them. But for the majority, studying is a very annoying thing. So they naturally try to avoid studies.

The reason for that is that they see this learning as something very unpleasant. As I said at the beginning of this article, learning cannot be done without passion and desire. Reluctance to study will be further enhanced by frequent truancy.

If studying can become a normal daily activity, studying will not be unpleasant. By normalizing everything, you unconsciously adapt to it over time. Similarly, we get used to even the most disturbing actions and events.

If you get used to studying almost every time you get a chance, instead of using a special time of the day to study, it will be very effective. There you don’t have to put much effort to study.

When you get into the habit of studying regularly, you don’t need to prepare for exams. Even if you are given a question paper now, you will be able to answer it very well.

03. Familiarization With Past Exam Papers

Answering past exam papers is one of the most effective ways that you can use to prepare and face the exams better. As the lessons in the same syllabus are usually the same, the questions that can be asked from them are also the same.

So by going through past exam papers you will come across all kinds of questions that can be asked from those lessons, so they become very familiar. You will get the same or very similar questions in the exam. Similarly, to understand the structure of the examination papers and how to manage the time, a good understanding is obtained by answering the past examination papers.

04. Short Notes

Many students prefer to read short notes instead of reading long lessons. But if it is a short note made by yourself, its effectiveness will increase more. Also, these short notes play an important role in answering multiple choice questions and writing short answers.

You can create these short notes by taking a section of a lesson and reading it thoroughly, taking a booklet and listing only the most important points from that lesson.

05. Have a Good Rest

Another important thing in preparing for exams is rest. Not only for exams, it is very important to have enough rest to carry out all the daily activities of your life successfully.

It is during rest that your body recovers its lost energy. In order to perform well every day, it is very important to get a good rest every day. If not, you will quickly become tired and unable to carry out daily tasks at an effective level.

Make sure to get a good night’s sleep the day before the exam. You may feel a little dizzy when you go to the exam with less sleep. Also spend the week before the exam very relaxed.

Don’t use the final week to study all the lessons. You should have studied all those lessons before that. You should use the last week to better remember the things you have studied.

Imagine that there is a month for the exam. Compare the total number of lessons you have with the number of days you have. Then manage the limited time you have by allocating the required number of days for the lessons that require more days and the required amount of days for the lessons that require fewer days.

By managing your limited time well, you can better prepare for your exam. Here you can read “10 Smart & Practical Ways of Studying Effectively” to catch more study tips. If you are interested in study at night, you can read that article as well.
