4 Easy Ways to Get Higher Marks in Exams

If you ask, how do I get higher marks in exams, the answer is very simple; you have to answer the questions correctly. That’s it. But the problem is how to give correct answers.

If you want to give correct answers, you should first have studied well, you should have experience answering the question papers, you should have an understanding of how marks are obtained in the question paper. Based on these things, we will talk very simply about how to get higher marks in exams.

01. Check the Previous Exam Papers

There may be some differences here depending on the education system of different countries. But, the questions that can be asked from the same lessons in the same syllabus should always be the same. Therefore, referring the previous exam papers can help you to get a high result in the upcoming exam.

If the syllabus is the same for many years, find the question papers of each year in that respective period and answer the questions in them. If the answer sheets of the previous papers are also available, you can check how far your answers match the expected answers in the exam.

If the answer you write is different from the answer expected from you in the exam, you will not get the corresponding marks. That is the general situation. In order for you to receive the full marks allocated to a question, your answer must cover all the points expected by the question paper maker for the question.

Similarly, in a formal education system, formally prepared question papers are given. For that, skilled and experienced professors are involved. They prepare the papers in such a way that a large number of examinees do not get the highest marks or the lowest marks.

It happens that the few who have studied well get the highest marks, and those who are below them get less and less marks. Question papers are also prepared to fail the students who have not done any academic work.

Where more students are pushed to the mid-score levels of the exam. Only a few get top marks. Only a minority fail the exam. That is the nature of a fair formal examination system.

So you will get these things while checking these past papers. As much as possible, practicing writing the answers to the questions will help you a lot to score high in the exams.

02. Manage Time During the Exam

Time management is very important in the exam. Let me explain simply. Divide the time allotted for the paper by the number of questions in it.

If there are 60 minutes and 40 multiple choice questions, then each question will get 90 seconds. Under any circumstances, do not spend more time than the average time allotted for one question.

Don’t waste time on the question you don’t know the answer to, answer the other questions you know the answer to, and only if there is time left at the end, try to find the answer to that abandoned question.

03. Time Before the Exam Starts

Gathering and chatting with friends is something many students do before the exam begins. There they sometimes talk about different lessons. In such a case, if a conversation arises regarding a lesson or part of a lesson that you missed, you are likely to get upset.

You may be under stress. Therefore, it may be difficult to remember even the things you have studied well. Therefore, do not go to study or talk with friends before the exam. If you can stay calm in the exam hall before the exam, it will bring a lot of relief to your mind and after receiving the paper, you will be able to recall the things studied well and write the answers.

If you want to get higher marks in the exam, first of all you need to believe in yourself and your knowledge.

04. Be Careful the Week Before the Exam

The week before the exam is very important. Because, if you are not careful during this week, you may not even be able to face the exam. If you have any accident or illness, you may not be able to appear for the exam. Otherwise, you will have to write the exam with severe physical pain.

So, be careful even with what you eat and drink the week before the exam. Physical and mental strength and health are very important to get higher marks in the exams.

Similarly, you should not study for the exam in the last week. You should prepare for the exams well in advance. Trying hard to study in the last week is not a good way to go. Study all the required subjects thoroughly and pass the final week with ease.

Spending the last week mentally relaxed will subdue the disturbed nature of the mind so that the things learned can be better remembered and recalled. Read “Smart and Practical Study Tips” to know how to study effectively.
