10 Easy Home Remedies to Prevent Dry Skin

Did you know that the skin is the largest organ in the human body? And this skin makes a big contribution to maintaining your beauty. So let’s talk about remedies to prevent dry skin in this article.

Many reasons such as extreme cold, low humidity environment, strong wind conditions, drinking less water etc. can cause your skin to be dry. So let’s talk about how to avoid all these problems and get a healthy and beautiful glowing skin naturally at home.

01. Milk Bath

The lactic acid in milk exfoliates dead skin cells and increases the skin’s ability to retain moisture. Here the problem that arises for you is which type of milk to use for this. You can use any kind of milk like whole milk, goat milk, coconut milk, butter milk, soy milk for this purpose.

Coconut milk also has high moisturizing properties which helps in controlling the dryness of your skin and keeps the skin moist. Make a bowl of milk, let it cool and soak a washcloth in it and dab it on your skin. Use this more on dry areas of the skin. It can also be used as a face wash. It makes your skin very nourished and glowing.

Allow the milk to remain on your skin for a few minutes, then rinse off again with a damp cloth or clean water. By doing this twice daily, you will see a noticeable improvement in your skin after a few days.

02. Aloe vera Gel

Aloe vera gel is a natural and very effective substance that can quickly eliminate the dryness of your skin. Aloe vera gel contains vitamins A, C and E as well as water concentration to increase the moisture content of your skin and provide the necessary nutrition.

Take the aloe vera gel and apply it well on your skin. Leave it for about 15 minutes and wash off thoroughly. This is usually much less likely to be allergic. But if your skin is allergic to this, give attention to another method.

03. Epsom Salt

To soften rough patches of skin, fill your tub with warm water and add two cups of Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate), then get in and soak for a few minutes. While your skin is still wet, rub a handful of Epsom salt on rough areas to exfoliate.

You’ll be amazed at how much better your skin feels when you get out. If you have, you can add some dried seaweed strips to your bath to increase the softening effect.

04. Avocado

You can use avocado as a facial moisturizer. Peel the fleshy part of the avocado and mash it until it becomes a butter. Then you can apply it well on your face and hands. Leave it to dry for about 15 to 20 minutes and wash it off thoroughly with cold water. If you add a drop of honey to this, you can increase its properties.

05. Moderate Bathing

Although many people think that frequent bathing is good, it is not really good. Frequent bathing strips away the protective oils from your skin. Hot water aggravates this condition. So it is better if you can use lukewarm water for bathing.

Also, don’t stay in the water for more than 15 to 20 minutes at a time. Also avoid bathing several times a day. If you can wash your body before going to bed in the evening, your skin’s lost protective oils will be replenished while you sleep.

Frequent bathing not only causes dryness in your skin but also in your hair. We talked about it earlier in the article titled How to Get Rid of Dry Hair. Bathing once a day or once in two days is good enough.

Bathing twice or thrice a week is sufficient during the winter months as you usually sweat less and the rate of skin drying is very high.

06. Omega-3

Omega-3 is an essential fatty acid for our body. It plays many important roles like maintaining proper blood pressure, protecting against many heart related problems and diseases.

Not only that, Omega-3 can be seen to regulate your skin’s oil production and keep your skin hydrated. So it is very important to get Omega-3 in your body.

Omega-3 is also found in flaxseed oil, soybean oil, canola oil, chia seeds, walnuts, and fatty fish such as salmon, mackerel, and tuna, and in fruits such as mangoes, berries, and avocados.

07. Vitamins and Minerals

Vitamin C, E and K are good for the skin, but vitamin D is very important for the skin. Foods such as fatty fish, mushrooms and egg yolks are rich in vitamin D. In addition, vitamins are abundant in fruits, green vegetables and leafy vegetables.

08. Wind and Humidity
